My girlfriend and I saw Andra Day perform at Amoeba Records a couple years ago. She killed it. Last night, flipping channels, we caught her performing on BBC. She killed it again. My girlfriend asked me, “Why isn’t she more famous?” It’s a good question. Day may never ascend to superstardom, even though she has the talent and debut offering to do it.
“Cheers To The Fall” is a monster. It’s emotional, belt-it-out soul that is as good or better than anything of that style that has come out in decades.
Standout tracks include, “Rise Up,” “Forever Mine,” “Goodbye Goodnight” & the title track.
