And the first repeat artist on aslongasitsgroovin.com is Mayer Hawthorne. As I mentioned in the "Where Does This Door Go" recommendation, that album took a step away from his first 2 albums, the second being "How Do You Do." This album is more a mix of classic and modern soul, mostly skewing towards classic.
"How Do You Do" is, impressively, solely produced and written by Mayer Hawthorne. It shows off his ability to genuinely replicate the sound of the best era in music, while adding in his own flair. Often times artists will ruin the spirit of the classic soul sound by trying to put their own spin on it. That is not the case here.
Standout tracks include, "Get To Know You," "No Strings Attached," "You're Not Ready," and "The Walk." The album's only feature comes on "Can't Stop," which showcases an early version of the style that Snoop Dogg would use on "Bush."
