If "Bush" came out and you just dismissed it as another in a long line of Snoop Dogg hip hop albums, you probably missed this one. It is unlikely anything else Snoop has put out. It's sort of a new age funk album, with Stevie Wonder and Charlie Wilson providing backing vocals.
I don't have any problem with hip hop. I started out listening to exclusively hip hop, and producing exclusively hip hop. But outside of a few artists, the genre has gone stale. There is a real lack of creativity in hip hop over the last few years, with every up-and-coming rapper recycling the same beats and flows. If more artists were willing to venture out of the box and make something like "Bush," it would go a long way towards restoring my interest in the genre.
Standout tracks include, "California Roll," "Peaches N Cream," "Edibles," and "I Knew That."
